Control Group are proud to announce that we have been awarded an accreditation for Fire Detection and Alarm Installations SP203 by the British Approvals of Fire Equipment (BAFE). The audit was undertaken by the British Standards Institute (BSI). As a result of this successful audit, as well as receiving the BAFE accreditation, we have now got a BSI kite mark associated with the audit of this discipline.
BAFE is the independent registration body for third party certified fire protection companies across the UK. A national independent register of quality fire safety service providers. Through being a BAFE recognised company, we can assure our clients that the fire protection work we undertake is completed to the highest industry standard.
BSI is a global standards organisation which help business to maximise their performance. Their internationally recognised accreditation standards are awarded to companies that operate to the highest level of quality and service. We are able to hold complete confidence with our clients that we have been audited for competence and performance ability.
The audit, which took place in July 2018 involved the inspection of actions and associated paperwork for taking a fire alarm project through from initial inquiry stage to final commission and handover. All steps having to conform to the recommendations laid down BS5839 part 1.
The audit involved looking at the following processes;
- Design
- Installation
- Commissioning/handover
- Maintenance
- Verification of fire detection and alarm systems to SP203-1:Version 6 and BS 5839-1:2013
Dave Hughes, Install Manager Control Group said: “It's fantastic news that as well as holding the NSI GOLD accreditation associated with Security, CCTV and Access Control, we now also hold full BAFE SP203 certification – which covers the whole installation process of a fire alarm system – from the initial enquiry to design, installation, commission, handover and after sales maintenance. This means we're now able to fully protect our clients' businesses covering all aspects of security and fire protection.”
Our next audit will be completed in February 2019 where all procedures will be scrutinised for compliance with BS5839 to retain our accreditation.
